The relative quiet that settled over old-growth forests in the Northwest in the late nineties and early part of the 21st century is set to explode.
As the Bush administration exits the scene, they are attempting to leave behind a legacy that would drastically expand old-growth logging and put our natural heritage at risk.
This threat has a name and boy is it a whopper.
To be more accurate, the plan is called the Western Oregon Plan Revisions (WOPR, for short) and would mean big changes for the 2.6 million acres of public forestland overseen by the Bureau of Land Management.
