A century of industrial logging has stripped the Northwest of all but 10% of it's historical old-growth forests. Our oldest and biggest remaining trees deserve nothing less than the strongest protection.

That's why the Northwest Old Growth Legacy Campaign is calling for Congress to act now to protect all mature and old-growth trees, so that the 10% we have left will be around for our grandchildren to see.

Legislative Protection

We are working with policy makers from across the Northwest to push for the permanent protection of old-growth forests. With strong federal protections, forests across the region can be kept safe to provide habitat for threatened species, clean water for communities and recreation opportunities for all.

Restoration Thinning

Part of protecting old growth in our publicly owned forests is re-tasking the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to focus on restoration.

Projects underway in the Siuslaw National Forest on Oregon's coast and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southern Washington have shown that conservation-based thinning can be good for forests and good for rural communities.
